Fab Find Friday

Today's fab finds are pieces I picked up on Etsy recently. As always, I am searching for affordable art for my home, and when I stumbled across these pieces I thought they would be great for our bedroom.

The top two pieces are by Ampersand Shop and are French sayings. The top left says, "Its everything," and the top right says, "The heart has it's reasons." I couldn't decide which I liked better so I chose both. Each piece was $25 which I thought was a great price point. I added frames I purchased at Michael's on sale for $10 each and that was that.

The center lips print is by The Aestate, and is an homage to Lara Stone. Being a fan of big art,  I purchased the large 30x40 frame at the West Elm outlet for $50  a while back and was looking for the perfect piece for it ever since. I was originally going to go with a black and white horse print but I thought the lips were romantic and brought in the right amount of pop for our bedroom.  This piece was $35, and with the $50 frame at $85 it makes a huge statement.

Now I just have to decide how to hang them.

Happy Weekend!

Off to Cali!

We are off on our first adventure as a family. We are flying into San Francisco and driving down the coast until we make it to San Diego. We will be making some stops in between. We have always wanted to take a road trip down the coast of California, so here we go. Wish us luck. Hopefully, I will have time to share some pictures along the way. Happy Weekend Folks!

                                                            Hope we see this:

                                                              And this too!
Yes, we are going to be complete cheesy tourists.

Currently Coveting: Home Office

Lately, I have come across some seriously stylish work spaces that have me coveting one of my own. I have always felt that if I have a beautiful working space I will be more productive. I don't know that this notion is necessarily true but, it's a way of me justifying a reason for a home office. The reality of a legit home office is a few years out, but it's good to think ahead. Right now I have a messy space in the basement with my desk and a table for painting supplies. I am going to work on sprucing it up over the next month to make it a better working space for 2013. Fake it till you make it, right? I'll share a before and after at some point.

Now, let's get back to the dream office shall we. There are certain elements that I deem essential.
They are:
1. Large writing desk. The offices below have them. I prefer a writing desks over desks with drawers. I like to have plenty of work surface, and I also think they look better.
2. Mood Board. To me this is essential for inspiration and to serve as art. Plus they are so fun to make.
3. Bookshelves. They are practical for storage and add to the design of the room when styled.
4. Chalkboard wall. I have always wanted a chalkboard wall, I think they are great for changing out inspirational quotes and also for entertaining little ones.
5. Little accents. Things such as fresh flowers and colorful writing utensils that make mundane tasks more fun and colorful.

Here is some inspiration.

Oh Baby!

Happy 2013 everyone. Cheers to a great year to come! I know I am a little late on this but better late then never.

I figured no better day to return to blogging than on the morning that I wake up to the dreaded projectile poop. Mommy's everywhere know what I am talking about, the little changing mishap where you are not quick enough with the diaper and the poop goes EVERYWHERE. In my half awake, need-a-coffee state it ended up all over the wall. I feel like most parents experience this at least once, and amongst other things I consider it a little initiation to parenting. Whelp, that should cheer you up; your Monday is already starting off better than mine.

Anyway, what's more important is the bundle behind the mess (and my absence), Miss Piper Dotty Hummel. Piper was born at 6:07 am on November 3, 2012. It took us three days to finally decide on her name but in the end it suits her perfectly. She is an absolute joy and has filled our hearts with so much love. We can't imagine our lives without her. This little girl has blossomed into a little smiley social butterfly. It's been just over 9 weeks and we are getting the hang of it. I wrote my last blog post on November 2nd, the day I ended up being induced. It's crazy how much our lives changed from one day to the next.

A little photo journal of the last 9 weeks.

Now that we have settled I hope to blog semi regularly.

In 2013, I am not going to set resolutions, I always have a revolving laundry list and I probably won't follow them anyway. Instead, my goal is to do the best and be the best person I can be. While this isn't a set measurable goal, I feel like it's a great personal motto to follow. Do what you can and try your hardest. I am going to attempt to stay in the present and just enjoy this year. I hope you do the same! XO.

Fab Find Friday's

This week's Fab Find Friday are paintings by Jen Garrido, which are on sale at One King's Lane until November 4th.  Jen Garrido's work is modern abstract. I am particularly drawn to her water color series seen below. I love the fluidity of the pieces. My favorites are the first two because of the bright colors.
                                                                     Panda Hug
                                                                      Pink and Orange

Baby Thoughts...

While I patiently (or not so patiently) await the arrival of our little girl (now 4 days overdue), I thought I'd share the cutest baby moccasins I found (they have been all over Pinterest). They are called Dolly by Le Petit Tom. Le Petit Tom is a children's clothing site based out of the Netherlands, all very items chic I must say. They look like mini Tod's loafers and come in a host of fun colors. Here is the direct link to the moccasins.
